📝 Let's Learn
Look for clues in word problems that tell you to multiply: "each costs," "per item," "every one costs," "times as many."
Example 1: Funke needs 6 exercise books. Each costs ₦35. How much for all of them?
6 × ₦35 = 6 × 30 + 6 × 5 = 180 + 30 = ₦210.
Example 2: Emeka buys 4 packs of crayons at ₦50 per pack. Total: 4 × ₦50 = ₦200.
Example 3: A school buys 10 footballs at ₦300 each. Total: 10 × ₦300 = ₦3,000.

- 5 × ₦25 = ₦125. (5 × 20 + 5 × 5 = 100 + 25 = 125.)
- 8 × ₦15 = ₦120. (8 × 10 + 8 × 5 = 80 + 40 = 120.)
- 3 × ₦450 = ₦1,350. (3 × 400 + 3 × 50 = 1,200 + 150 = 1,350.)
💡 Remember
When a word problem says "each costs" or "per item," that's your clue to multiply. Number of items × price per item = total cost.
