🏪 Market Story

Tunde's school is going on a field trip. The headteacher organises 5 buses. Each bus can carry 30 students. How many students can go on the trip? 5 × 30 = 150 students!

📝 Let's Learn

When objects or people are divided into equal groups, use multiplication to find the total.

Example 1: There are 8 families in a compound. Each family has 4 children. Total children: 8 × 4 = 32 children.

Example 2: A teacher gives 6 sweets to each of her 9 students. Total sweets: 9 × 6 = 54 sweets.

Example 3: Bola plants 7 rows of corn. Each row has 10 stalks. Total stalks: 7 × 10 = 70 stalks.

  1. 6 × 4 = 24 people.
  2. 8 × 5 = 40 oranges.
  3. 9 × 25 = 9 × 20 + 9 × 5 = 180 + 45 = 225 students.

💡 Remember

Equal groups = multiplication. If every group has the same number, multiply the number of groups by the number in each group to find the total.
