What is an Inference?

An inference is a conclusion you make based on clues in the text plus what you already know.

Formula

Text Clues + What I Know = Inference

Example

"Sarah looked at her watch and started walking faster. She was breathing hard when she finally reached the school gate."

Inference: Sarah was late for school

Clues: looked at watch, walked faster, breathing hard, reached school
