🎯 What You'll Learn

You will practise finding the sequence — the order in which things happen in a story.

🌟 Let's Start

Stories happen in order — something happens first, then next, then last. Signal words like first, next, then, after, finally help you follow the order. Let us read a passage and track the sequence.

Passage: Making Chin-Chin

Emeka's grandmother taught him how to make chin-chin, a popular Nigerian snack.

First, they mixed flour, sugar, and butter in a big bowl. Grandmother let Emeka stir the mixture with a wooden spoon.

Next, they added eggs and a little milk. They mixed everything together until it became smooth dough.

Then, Grandmother rolled out the dough on the table. She cut it into small squares using a knife. Emeka helped cut some too.

After that, Grandmother heated oil in a deep pot. When the oil was hot, she carefully dropped the small dough squares into the oil.

Finally, the chin-chin turned golden brown. Grandmother scooped them out and put them on paper to cool. Emeka could not wait — he ate five pieces right away!

"Delicious!" Emeka said. "Can we make more tomorrow?"
